BAM! Welcome to YourArgumentIsInvalid.com Version 2.0! There's been some major changes on the site, mostly allowing you to get further involved. There may be some legacy stuff not working or not linked correctly, so bear with us.
OK, the submission links are fixed. If something doesn't work on the site, leave me a comment; there's been a few bugs pop up that I didn't catch.
Our first user submitted image using the new site. Keep 'em coming. But no more rainbow-spewing-pandas—they're quite frightening.
OK, so now the User Submissions link is working properly. Sorry about that. :P Some great submissions, by the way.
Did you see that you can login using OpenID? Basically, you already have an account on the site--you just have to connect it to gmail, yahoo mail, or any number of other services that host OpenID, and they'll do the authentication for you. How easy is that? Have an invalid Saturday.
The following is a blatant, but relevant, rip-off of a poem by Mary Stevenson that may very well be the most popular image macro ever created. I mean, come on, how many times have you seen this poem printed on a picture of footprints on a beach at sunrise/set?
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Dog.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints. So I said to the Dog,
"You promised me Dog,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"The Dog replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."
Dear Reader, the migration seems to have been successful; hope you like the new site. You and your fellow commenters shamed me into doing something big in order to make up for my lack of updates. The site won't be "fully-featured" for a few days; I still need to get some user profile info added, in order to tell you that you can see all of your submissions at (which still doesn't work, mind you):
http://yourargumentisinvalid.com/user/YOURNAME/all
I also have to get all of the feeds back up, but I think that's it.
Until then, go ahead and register and start submitting! If you have any issues with the site, comment on this post, and I'll get to it ASAP. I'd especially like to hear if you have suggestions for blocks on the right hand side. I'm thinking "Most active posts", "Most active users", etc. What do you think?
Enjoy.
OK, I have no excuses. I can only quote reader, Jen: "update fail". Jen, I hang my head in shame; I'm sorry to disappoint you. Starting tomorrow, you guys will get a new picture every day for at least 2 weeks. I have a nice queue built up, but I really need your help. I'm too busy, at the moment, to come up with new content on my own, so if anyone can help out and send in submissions, I'll tattoo your name on my back. And by tattoo, I mean write in correctly formatted HTML; by your name, I mean your name and a link to your blog/twitter/whatever; by my back, I mean this website. See you tomorrow; tell your friends!
Happy Father's Day. I hope it's an invalid one.
Dear reader, my apologies, but this is just a post of deals - these are just too good for you to not know about.
First is one of the hottest new cameras on the market, the 12.1 Megapixel Panasonic G1, plus 2 lenses for $661 shipped free. For those of you who like the quality of an SLR but the size of a point and shoot, this is your camera - it utilizes the Micro Four Thirds mirror-box-less system, making it considerably smaller than most DSLRs. And it got a "Highly Recommended" from dpreview, the only site to trust whole-heartedly on camera reviews. Here's what you have to do:
Go here. Scroll down to where it says "Save $250 on the Panasonic 45-200mm Lens when you purchase 1 or more Panasonic G1 Digital SLR offered by Amazon.com" and click "Add Both to Cart". The reduced price will show up at the final stage of checkout.
Second is John Fogerty/CCR's greatest hits for $2.99. For 25 DRM-free songs, that's much better than, say, if you would download these songs on Kazaa and the RIAA would catch you, fining you $80,000 per song. I'm serious. If you're not familiar with John Forgerty, you should be ashamed of yourself and start listening immediately.
And speaking of cheap tunes, here's 99 Essential Chants for $.99.
Have an invalid Saturday.
Lions, bears, and...tigers. There you have it. I thought about going with the "My hair is a tiger" approach, but then noticed the whiskers. If you can do better, and I'm fairly sure you can, leave 'em in the comments.
Also, you know I like internet deals, right? Well, what you may not know is that I also like pocket knives - carry one with me all the time. For those of you that don't, here's a pretty good price on an "every-day carry" (as those of us in the know call it) - I carried this one for about a year and still do every once in a while:
This has what's called "speed safe" opening, so it can be opened quickly with one hand. Also, this particular blade size makes it legal to carry in most states (but you'll need to check that out yourself). What's that? What am I currently carrying? Well, dear reader, I'm glad you asked:
And let me tell you, Lucy Lawless does not enjoy her time in my pocket. Just kidding. She loves it.
But seriously, right now, I carry this (which also comes in the fully serrated option). Both are good knives, this one's just a little pricier.
These are user submissions so view at your own risk. If you'd like to submit something, use ROFLbot to caption it up, save it, and submit it here.
